PRAXIS II Biology Content Knowledge, Part 2 Exam

The PRAXIS II Biology: Content Knowledge; Part 2 Exam is taken by candidates interested in teaching secondary school biology. The exam is composed of 75 multiple choice questions: 28 questions cover the diversity of life, plants, and animals; 18 questions cover classical genetics and evolution; 16 questions cover molecular and cellular biology, and 13 questions cover ecology. Candidates have one hour to complete the exam.

The Diversity of Life, Plants and Animals section of the exam covers plant and animal classifications and kingdoms, the evolution of plants, plant anatomy and physiology, the reproductive characteristics of plants, animal evolution, organ systems and functions, animal reproduction, and inherent and learned animal behavior.

The Classical Genetics and Evolution section of the exam covers Mendelian inheritance, genetic disorders, population genetics, and evolution.

The Molecular and Cellular Biology section of the exam covers cell structure, features of cells, chemicals linked with forms of life, meiosis, enzymes, molecular genetics, DNA, and nucleic acids.

The Ecology section of the exam covers energy flow, ecosystems, communities of species, niches, and features related to populations.
