The PRAXIS II Chemistry, Physics, and General Science Exam is taken by candidates interested in teaching middle- and secondary- school chemistry, physics, and general science. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree to take this exam.

The composed of 120 multiple choice questions: 36 questions cover chemistry, 36 questions cover physics, 24 questions cover major ideas in chemistry and physics, 12 questions cover Earth and space science, and 12 questions cover life science. Candidates have two hours to complete the exam.

The Chemistry section of the exam covers kinetics, acids and bases, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, biochemistry, oxidation, solutions, formulas, the mole, periodicity, organic and inorganic chemistry, and laboratory safety.

The Physics segment of the exam covers fluid, kinematic and dynamic mechanics; fields, forces and laws of magnetism and electricity; conductors; circuitry; waves and optics; modern physics, and the ways physics and the environment are interrelated.

The Major Ideas of Chemistry and Physics section of the exam covers the scientific method, data collecting and interpretation, radioactivity, thermodynamics, atomic characteristics, molecular kinetics, matter, and physical and chemical transformations.

The Earth and Space Science section of the exam covers astronomy; geology; meteorology; oceanography; environmental issues; the solar system; galaxies; the universe; the investigation of space; rocks and minerals; weathering and erosion; topography; historical geology; climate and weather systems; the atmosphere; and chemical, physical, geological and biological characteristics of water.

The Life Science section of the exam covers cells, ecology, and organisms, and the interrelatedness of life science and the environment.
