PRAXIS II Communication Exam

The PRAXIS II Communications Exam is taken by candidates interested in teaching communications to students at any level. The exam includes 150 multiple choice questions in six areas: 26 cover General Communication, 26 questions cover Speech, 25 questions cover Theatre, 25 questions cover Media, 18 questions cover Professional Concerns, 15 questions cover Literature, 15 questions cover language. Candidates have two hours to complete the exam.

The General Communication section of the exam covers communication theory, listening, audience participation, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, and legal issues in communication.

The Speech section of the exam covers public oration, interpretive reading, debate, and class discussions.

The Theater concentration of the PRAXIS II Communications Exam contains questions about directing, acting, production, and literature. This section of the PRAXIS II Communication Exam also addresses the history and origins of drama.

The Media area of the exam covers film, print, and television media; history of media; techniques in media; and mass media.

The Professional Concerns section of the exam covers careers, professional organizations, school related interests, professional methods, organizations, and interests, and available resources.

The Literature section of the covers authors, genres, literary styles and periods, American literature, world literature, and literary analysis.

The Language section of the exam covers semantics, etymology, the history of language, linguistic diversity, and written language.
