The PRAXIS II German Productive Language Skills Exam is taken by candidates interested in teaching German to students at all grade levels. The exam is composed of a few different types of questions. Candidates have one hour to complete the exam.
The Presentational Speaking section of the exam often begins with ungraded warm-up questions. Oral response questions may be based on a text scenario, an audio passage in German which must be translated without loss of meaning, a sequence of narrative drawings to which candidates respond with step-by-step German explanations, or a complete narrative in German describing a picture in the test booklet.
The Presentational Writing section of the exam entails written responses in German. Candidates will write a letter or email about a situation described in the test booklet. The picture narration section requires candidates create a brief essay about pictures provided in the test booklet.
