The PRAXIS II Life Sciences: Pedagogy Exam is taken by candidates interested in teaching middle- and secondary school introductory biology. Candidates will consider and respond to a week-long study unit based upon a particular topic.
The first part of the essay question involves selecting and justifying instructional objectives. The second part of the question requires candidates to consider, select, and describe teaching approaches to support the learning objectives. The third section covers specific approaches and strategies used to assess student accomplishment of the learning objectives.
The exam covers genetics and evolution, cellular biology, molecular biology, fundamental scientific principles, diversity of life, plants and animals, ecology, technology, and science and society.
