PRAXIS II Spanish: Productive Language Skills Exam

The PRAXIS II Spanish: Productive Language Skills Exam is taken by candidates interested in teaching Spanish to students at any grade level. The exam is entirely in Spanish. Four written questions cover Presentational Writing and are worth 40% of the exam grade; six questions cover Presentational Speaking and are worth 40% of the exam grade.

The Presentational Writing section of the exam requires a brief letter, e-mail or other short piece of informational writing be created based on a situation presented in the exam booklet. The exam assesses candidates' ability to create a set of questions in Spanish and to describe in a brief Spanish-language passage a series of pictures presented in the exam booklet.

The Presentational Speaking section of the exam assesses candidates' ability to respond in Spanish to six audio questions asked in Spanish. This section of the exam covers conversational language, oral summarization, proclaiming and defending a position, creating a story to accompany illustrations, creating step-by-step directives, and role playing in response to a situation. All responses are to be age-appropriate for the question or situation asked.
