PRAXIS II Vocational General Knowledge Exam

The PRAXIS II Vocational General Knowledge Exam is taken by candidates interested in teaching middle- and secondary level vocational education. The exam contains 100 multiple choice questions: 32 science questions, 36 mathematics questions, and 32 social studies questions. Candidates have two hours to complete the examination.

The Science section of the exam covers scientific methods, the origins of Earth and the universe, catalysts to disease, nutrition, ways the environment and people impact each other, evolution, class organization, and the structure of living and organisms. The exam also covers nuclear, gravitational, and electromagnetic forces; characteristics of inorganic matter; and the transfer, conversion, and sources of energy.

The Mathematics section of the exam contains questions about logic, probability, measurement, rectangular coordinates, reading scales, percentages, proportion, ratio, formula conversion, and estimates. There are also questions about interpreting diagrams, charts, and graphs.

The Social Studies section of the exam reviews human settlements and geography, economics and political values. This part of the exam has questions about cultures and societies, and historical movements and events.
